POLICE REPORT APRIL 2020
There were twenty nine reported crimes for the ward during April.
There were nine for burglary where sheds were broken into. Six on one night in Caterham Drive at the start of the
month and three on one night in Chaldon Way mid month. Similarity being gardens backed onto open land.
There were two for theft from motor vehicles, one catalytic convertor and another for tools taken from a works van.
It’s worth having a good padlock on the door with no exposed screws. Pay attention to hinges, as these are sometimes
easily removable. If you have windows then these could be vulnerable unless they’re secured with wire mesh or grills.
Visit soldsecure.com to research security approved products such as padlocks, chains and garage door stops to secure
your premises. Consider a battery-operated shed alarm. They look low key but they respond to movement or door
contact with an extremely loud siren. Secure your bike to the ground or a lockable stand within a locked shed or garage.
Property marking your items is advisable and some tools can be painted with your name or postcode. Forensic marking
is also an option.
